Beat it.

Yesterday I participated in my first race, The Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes 8K, as a warm up to the biggie half-marathon in June. Despite my rookie moves in getting to the event, overdressing, and ankle chip woes (bloody chips!), I managed to “beat the bridge” and ran over University Bridge right before it went up at the 2-mile marker. Starting with the third wave of runners, I finished the race in 45:12, coming in at 131 of 443.

My reward? Biscuits and gravy at the Shanty and some lovely orchids waiting for me at home! (On a side note, I think I’ll have to keep running just so I can start a new numbers collection.)

I just wanted to say I like watching you run. I follow you in Queen Anne. I first noticed you because of your shoes. Good luck with more races. I will be there. Honestly. I have thousands of pictures of you. XO.
